The Six Minute Project

In May of 2006, a man by the name of Jacob Reed began forming an idea. His goal was to capture the most accurate snapshot of a “day in the life of…” The result was the 6 Minute Project, the brainchild of all the festering ideas in his crammed mind, just waiting to come out. A collection of 240 pictures each taken six minutes apart for the span of 24 hours, the 6 Minute Project gives you an idea of the daily process by which we each abide to. Anyone can do it, and all you need is a camera, a stopwatch, and the mental stamina of stopping 240 times to take a picture of your surroundings. Looking through the thousands of cataloged pictures on the website tells a story, and though you may not mean to, it is very possible to burn hours looking through the eyes of someone else. It is like a book that you just can’t put down, as if living someone else’s life is just that much more interesting than living your own.

Want to participate? Check out the instructions here, or just browse around and see what you can find.

Due to copyright issues and a director who does not feel it is necessary to email me back, here a few pictures from a similar project called People Photographing People:

  2. That sounds like a cool project to do. However some of the pictures could get interesting. You should try this project too and post this on the blog.
